Emily and Richie Bolusky in Tulsa, Oklahoma love Halloween and really get into the holiday every year. A few years ago, their hearts were broken when a little girl showed up to their doorstep to trick-or-treat without a costume because her parents couldn’t afford one.
Emily and Richie’s 9-year-old daughter saw what happened and immediately ran and got one of her old costumes to give the girl. That moment inspired the family to set up a makeshift costume shop in their driveway in 2016 called “Myriam Poppin’s Costume Closet,” where any kid could come and pick out a costume for free. Each year, they’ve been able to purchase more costumes and collect more donations.
This year for Halloween, the family has about 500 Halloween costumes available through purchases and donations. They thanked people on their Facebook page with pictures of the costumes saying,
“Thank you, everyone, for helping support this growing project! Our family and children receiving these costumes are incredibly appreciative. One lucky kid is getting the coolest seriously legit Frankenstein shoes.”
