Evans is Australian born and officially moved over to Nashville, Tennessee in the United States 3 and 1/2 years ago. Although he is not a U.S. citizen, he and his wife Kelsea Ballerini are working through things to make it happen. With his native country comes his Australian accent. However, when Evans sings, there is no accent. He shares that there really isn’t much to it, he just learned the ‘right’ way to sing from being in Nashville and around the industry.
Evans shared with us that one of the songs off the album is called “Dance With Me” and it features Ballerini. He said that he actually wrote the song while watching her on TV. Another emotional song for him is the title track off the new record. He wrote “Things That We Drink To” on the day of a memorial for his manager of 10 years. They wrote the song as a celebration of life and in honor of the great man that they knew and lost.
