Country music’s 90s obsession continues. Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins are the latest members of the country music community to represent the popular decade by attending a 90s-themed birthday party for a friend.
The couple took to Instagram to share pictures from the event, which saw Lauren rocking crimped hair and a crop top and TR carrying a blow-up boombox all night. “80s baby but 90s made me-keds, crimped hair, choker and all✌????plus a little bit of Wilson Phillips & Destiny’s Child. Happy birthday Stevie girl, best bday celebration ever,” Lauren captioned one photo from the event.
Thomas Rhett also captioned a photo from the event with “Take me back to the 90’s.” Also in attendance at the 90s extravaganza were RaeLynn, the members of Little Big Town and more.
The shindig comes during a period of 90s nostalgia in country music. Rising star Walker Hayes recently dropped a new single called “90’s Country,” while Lauren Alaina is readying her new single “Ladies in the 90s” for release on Friday (10/5).
