TMSG: Former Fighting Ring Pit Bull Joins Virginia Police Department

This 3-year-old pit bull’s life was once confined to just a fighting ring in Canada. However, three years later, he has a new family and a new mission in life. Dallas, along with 30 other pit bulls, were confiscated by officials of Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in 2015.

21 of the dogs were slated to be euthanized – including Dallas – but the co-founder of Dog Tales Rob Scheinberg hired a lawyer to fight for the pups. He was able to save 18 of them. After a long legal battle. Dallas and some of the other dogs were taken by Pit Sisters, a Florida organization.

The Throw Away Dogs Project teamed up with the Pit Sisters foundation to get Dallas trained to become a police dog after realizing some of his skills. Dallas has been in training since the end of August. Now he is slated to move to Virginia on Sunday to complete his training with a future handler and officially be a K-9 for their police department sniffing out narcotics.
