State School Officials Considering Bulletproof Backpacks

School officials in Wisconsin are considering bulletproof backpacks as an answer to possible violence in classrooms.

BlueStone Safety Products‘ created bulletproof backpack inserts. They are lightweight panels about the size of a laptop, designed to deflect bullets. Each individual insert costs from $118 to $200. Wisconsin Rapids School Superintendent Craig Broeren says that his one issue with the inserts is that students don’t always have access to their backpacks. He would get the inserts if police recommended them.

The idea is still in working and assessing stages, but some parents are definitely considering the idea.
