When Merriam-Webster adds new words into the dictionary, it’s a big deal. A dictionary is pretty much a “glossary of life” where you can find all kinds of words that describe things around you.

When new words are added into the dictionary, it is because the words have already been used by so many people — often initially by specialists or subcultures. Every word moves at its own pace and according to Merriam-Webster, there is no average speed for a word’s acceptance into the language, culture and the dictionary.

In this new list, words from digital technology are big. Here are just a few of the words that have been added this time around:

  • Hangry (adjective)
  • Quac (noun)
  • Rando (noun)
  • Instagramming (verb)
  • Bingeable (adjective)
  • Time suck (noun)
  • Adorbs (adjective)
  • TL;DR (abbreviation)

The full list will make you feel really smart, especially if you’re trendy with your words.
