Big and Rich’s John Rich Goes On Twitterstorm Over Nike Ad Campaign

Big and Rich‘s John Rich went on a twitterstorm yesterday, after Nike’s latest ad campaign was revealed. The campaign includes Colin Kaepernick as the face, with the phrase “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” The former 49ers quarterback was blackballed from the NFL after kneeling during the National Anthem.

After seeing the campaign Rich immediately tweeted, “Hey @Nike I guess you made @Kaepernick7 your new “face” of the brand because you love the way his socks look with your shoes? @Reebok here we come.” Rich included a photo of Kaepernick wearing socks that included a pig as a police officer.

John Rich was the winner of the 11th season of Donald Trump’s TV show The Apprentice. Trump has been a vocal opponent of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem tweeting, “The issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for our Country, Flag and National Anthem. NFL must respect this!”

Rich followed that tweet up with another one which showed socks with the Nike logo cut off. “Our Soundman just cut the Nike swoosh off his socks. Former marine. Get ready @Nike multiply that by the millions.”

The replies on twitter started flooding in, and Rich replied to quite a few of them. This morning he took to Twitter, to clear up his stance on the situation.

“I support every American’s right to protest whatever they want. However, if you endorse someone who wears #PIGSOCKS that’s where you lose me. If @nike wants their “swoosh” to be associated with calling our police “Pigs” then so be it. I have a right to not buy their products.”
