Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Welcome a New Member to the Royal Family

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have welcomed a new member to the Royal Family, PEOPLE reports. According to the outlet, the couple got a new dog — thought to be a Labrador — in early summer that’s been tagging along with them on their country getaway in the Cotswolds area and Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London.

To anyone who follows the Duchess of Sussex, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Meghan is a dog lover and had to leave one of her pups, Bogart, behind with friends when she arrived in London after getting engaged to Prince Harry. Her other dog, Beagle Guy, was able to make the trek across the pond with her.

Though the couple has full custody of their fur babies, they won’t have legal custody of their human babies when they choose to reproduce, Queen Elizabeth II will technically be in charge of both Prince William‘s and Harry’s children while they are minors. This Royal Law was written up during the time of King George‘s reign in the 1700s and has never been updated.

The protocol didn’t deter William and Kate Middleton from having children of their own, and we’d be surprised if it hindered Harry and Meghan. When the Duchess of Sussex does become pregnant, there may be a telltale sign to look out for before the big announcement, so keep your eyes peeled.
