On August 8th at around 3:30 p.m., Police observed a Toyota pickup travelling north on Canyon Lake Road. The vehicle matched the description of a pickup that had earlier been reported stolen. As officers were confirming the vehicle’s license plate, it turned onto Hillsview Drive and into a driveway in the 1900 block. Police observed the male driver of the truck running south from the location of the vehicle. Witnesses informed police of the suspect’s direction of travel and it was called out over the radio. Another officer observed the suspect run through a backyard in the 2000 block of Juniper Street. A perimeter was formed around this area, and a K9 unit responded to assist in tracking the suspect. The K9 track led police to a yard in the 4100 block of Dale Drive where the suspect was located. He was placed in handcuffs without further incident. Keys belonging to the stolen pickup were located in the suspect’s pocket, and we was identified as 44-year-old Cory Myers of Rapid City. A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana. Myers was placed under arrest for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Obstruction, and Possession of Marijuana. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
