Theft

On August 4th at around 6:20 p.m., police were flagged down my an employee of 4244 Canyon Lake Drive. The employee informed police that an alcohol theft had just occurred from the business and pointed out the suspect vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and it stopped in a driveway in the 4200 block of Canyon Lake Drive. The suspect vehicle began backing up and struck the officer’s patrol car. The driver was commanded to exit the vehicle. She did so, and was identified as 19-year-old Chyanne Rolla of Pillager, MN. Following a DUI investigation, it was determined she showed signs of impairment. She was placed under arrest for Zero Tolerance DUI (DUI under 21), and Unsafe Backing. Meanwhile, officer spoke with a passenger of the vehicle. The male passenger initially gave police a fake name, but would later be positively identified as 23-year-old Matthew Chittenden of Pillager, MN. Police determined Chittenden was the suspect responsible for the alcohol theft. He was placed under arrest for Shoplifting and Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement. Both Chittenden and Rolla were transported to the Pennington County Jail.
