DUI Crash

On July 27th at around 9:20 a.m., police were dispatched to a crash at Haines Avenue and Mall Drive. On arrival, police located a Kia passenger car with extensive damage to its front end, and a Subaru Legacy that had damage on its passenger side. Officers would later determine that the crash happened when the Kia (eastbound on Mall Drive) did not stop for the stop sign and struck the passenger side of the Subaru, which was southbound on Haines Avenue. Police made contact with the driver of the Kia, identified as 60-year-old Charles Stover of Tucson, AZ, and immediately noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Following a DUI investigation, it was determined that Stover was too impaired to drive. A search of the Kia turned up a marijuana pipe. Stover was placed under arrest for DUI, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, the Stop Sign Violation, and No Proof of Insurance. Stover was transported to the Pennington County Jail. Thankfully, all injuries sustained in the crash were minor in nature.
