Starbucks Is Planning To Open It’s First “Signing Store”

Starbucks announced that it will open a first-of-its-kind store. It will be a “signing store” staffed by employees proficient in American Sign Language. The shop will open in Washington, D.C. near Gallaudet University, a prominent university for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

The store will open in October and will hire an estimated 20-25 deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing employees who can communicate with customers and others through ASL. Included in the store will also be aprons with embroidered ASL signs and pins that indicate “I Sign.”

A great step forward for those with hard-of-hearing. Shoutout Starbucks!
