Dierks Bentley’s Guest DJ Station: Metallica, AC/DC & More

Dierks Bentley released his ninth studio album The Mountain, on June 8th. It was an album that he said represented very much where he is in life right now.

The inspiration for The Mountain came when he was playing the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, Colorado (a small town in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains). “This album, I was just looking for something different. I didn’t know what it was going to be. It wasn’t calculated, I was just looking for something different, open for whatever it was gonna be. And this summer, a lot of time out west, a lot of time working on the movie Only The Brave which really focuses on firefighters out west. I was really just out west a lot, my neck of the woods, and being at the bluegrass festival in Telluride really just gave me the very, very small, small seed of an idea for what the album could be.”

To celebrate Dierk’s new album, we passed the mic over to him to curate his own Guest DJ station on iHeartRadio, and they even shared some of their favorite songs for fans to listen to.

On Dierk’s Guest DJ station on iHeartRadio, fans can not only hear songs from The Mountain, they can also hear him talk about the story behind each song, and also listen to some of his favorite artists like MetallicaAC/DCLANCOJon PardiZZ TopU2, and more.

Fans will also hear Dierks talk about some of his favorite songs.

AC/DC – “A Long Way To The Top”

“When I first started playing the guitar I was 13 years old, I definitely gravitated towards power cords, loud Marshall guitar amps, and distortion pedals. Nobody rocked harder than AC/DC, and ‘A Way To The Top’ was one of my favorites. It’s a song I did a little bit with Miranda Lambert on our tour we had a while back.”

Metallica – “Enter Sandman”

“I listen to this song at least 6 times a week, I’ve probably listened to it 10,000 times in my life. My four-year-old son Knox loves hockey, and somehow ‘Enter Sandman’ has become our hockey song. Every time I drive him to and from hockey, we have to listen to it, which doesn’t bother me one bit.”
