TMSG: Restaurant Provided Free Meals To Community After Floods

The Island of Kauai in Hawaii has been facing a historic flooding disaster that began earlier this month. Opakapaka Grill and Bar has only been opened for a couple months when the record-breaking rainfall hit. The morning after, Owner Gregg Fraser went to check on his restaurant and found as many as 40 people waiting on the doorstep.

Fraser told Hawaii News Now,

“The people that were finding shelter in the front entry of my restaurant had either lost their home, lost their vehicles that they were sleeping in or had been camping out on the trail,” Fraser says. “I opened the door, let everybody in, let them dry off, let them change and do what they could. I made them coffee and started cooking breakfast.”

The restaurant hasn’t stopped since and they’re helping feed first responders, volunteers and students… all of those who are stranded on the island. Great work Fraser and company… this is incredible!
