Traffic Stop

On April 22nd at around 9:30 p.m., police observed a vehicle driving with expired license plates. A traffic stop on the vehicle was initiated in the area of Brentwood Street and Idlewood Drive. Police made contact with the driver. The driver gave the officer a name that could not be verified. Police asked the man to step out of the vehicle until he could be positively identified. The driver ended up running from the location and the officer pursued on foot. The driver lost a shoe in the pursuit, tripped, and fell into the side of a parked car. Police were able to get him into handcuffs at this point. He was positively identified as 33-year-old Brent Gramling of Rapid City. It was determined that Gramling had a warrant for his arrest. He was placed under arrest for Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement, Driving Under Suspension, Obstruction, No Proof of Insurance, and his Warrant. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
