Dwight Yoakam & Frankie Ballard coming to the Central States Fair

Dwight Yoakam and Frankie Ballard are coming to the Central States Fair on Monday, August 20. Tickets go on sale July 1, but coming soon, listen to KICK 104 for your chance to win tickets before you can buy them!

Over the course of more than 20 albums Dwight Yoakam has continued to passionately sing, write, and play music brimming with hard country and rock & roll. He’s been winning awards ever since his debut with the Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Male Vocalist in 1986 and most recently the Americana Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2013.

Yoakam’s last album, Second Hand Heart, features the same distinctive, supple vocals, accented with his Kentucky croon fans are all familiar with and sounds as strong today as he did on his debut album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc. Etc. in 1985.  And now, his new release of Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars introduces his first Bluegrass album.

Playing hits like “Guitars, Cadillacs,” “The Back of Your Hand,” “Fast as You” and “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere” Yoakam is sure to put on a great show for an audience of all ages.

“Dwight Yoakam and Frankie Ballard make a great addition to the grandstand line up,” said Fair Manager, Ron Jeffries. “They will bring generations of country fans together for an evening filled with great music.”

Opening for Dwight Yoakam will be country newcomer Frankie Ballard. Ballard has scored success on country radio with his hits “Young & Crazy,” “Sunshine & Whiskey” and “Helluva Life.”

The 73rd Annual Central States Fair will be Aug., 17-26. The ten-day fair will include three nights of concerts, Johnson Machine Demolition Derby, Supercross Racing, PRCA Rodeo and Carnival Americana. Tickets and fair passes will go on-sale July 1 and can be purchased at the Central States Fair office or centralstatesfair.com
