“I think ‘Cry Pretty’ sets the tone for the rest of the album because it’s emotional and it is real, but there’s also just some incredible musical moments in the song,” she says in an official trailer for the album. “And I feel like those things are themes that go throughout the rest of the album.
Carrie also emphasizes the “loving and careful way” she and co-producer David Garcia constructed the songs on Cry Pretty.
“We have a lot of songs on there that are definitely emotional and kind of soulful and real and raw. There’s so much love and care and heart that has gone into writing these songs, putting music to these songs.”
Carrie delivered the world television premiere performance of “Cry Pretty” last Sunday on the ACM Awards and received a standing ovation from her fans and her peers.
Cry Pretty, the album, drops September 14.
