Jo’s Top 5 from the 2018 ACM Awards

The 2018 ACM Awards happened and history was made. From iconic performances from Alan Jackson with Jon Pardi to Blake Shelton joining Toby Keith, it was not a disappointing night at all. Here are my top 5.

5. Brothers Osborne winning Vocal Duo of the Year and Music Video of the Year. These two boys are some of my favorites right now in country music. Their new album comes out this Friday and I know there will be plenty of additional awards in the future for them.

4. Chris Stapleton winning while not even there, because his wife was giving birth to their twin boys, oh and it was Chris’s birthday too. So, not only did he win Album of the Year but also Male Vocalist of the Year. I had him picked to win a few others, but regardless he deserves it all. Not sure if he is going to be able to top this ACM Awards show anytime soon. My only wish would have been for him to perform and I’m sure he would have if they weren’t on baby watch, good call on staying home Chris.

3. My #3 moment from the ACM Awards show last night was when Old Dominion won Vocal Group of the Year. I’ll be honest, I didn’t see that one coming and by their reaction they didn’t either. Well deserved to some hard working musicians. There is always that one award winner that is a surprise to many and Vocal Group of the Year was the WOW moment of the year.

2. Miranda Lambert here entire night was a highlight. Showing up solo and rocking the red carpet to not only tying the record for most ACM Awards won but then setting a new record after she received Female Vocalist of the Year.  Her performance of “Keeper of the Flame” Miranda proved why she won Female Vocalist for the 9th year in a row. It was awesome to see the autograph on the guitar she was playing too, Lorretta Lynn signed it.

1.Reba..she did an amazing job hosting, I mean she’s done it a few times and she is down right amazing so didn’t expect anything less. Her outfit changes, the jokes she made about herself and how old she was, but my favorite line was at the very beginning acknowledging Dierks, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton, former hosts of the ACM. Reba’s line that stole the show.. “I guess they finally figured out that it only takes one woman to do the job of two men.” HA! She was by far my favorite performer with her daughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson. “Does He Love You” was done right, well done ladies. Oh, and her dress! Still killing it Reba!
