DUI Crash

On April 3rd at around 6:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the 400 block of E. North Street for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a light pole. On arrival, police located the Pontiac minivan which was engulfed in flames. After ensuring no one was trapped in the vehicle, police made contact with the vehicle’s occupants who were standing nearby. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 36-year-old Dawn Meyers of Rapid City. Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Meyers’ person. Police determined the incident occurred when the westbound van attempted to turn into the parking lot of 414 E. North Street and struck the light pole. The crash caused the vehicle to catch fire. Following a DUI investigation, Meyers was placed under arrest for DUI, Reckless Driving, Driving without a Valid License, and No Proof of Insurance.
