Smartphone Photography May Be Altering Our Memories

77 percent of Americans now own smartphones and most of that percentage rely on their phones for memory support.

New psychology research suggests constant photo taking actually diminishes our ability to recall experiences, diverting our attention and takes us out of a moment.

By constantly sharing photos of our experiences like concerts, vacations and family events, we may be changing how we recall events in our own lives. At the same time, new research shows cameras can also be used to enhance our memories of certain experiences.
