Burglary

On March 11th at around 8:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence the 1300 block of 4th Street for a report of a possible burglary in progress. Information received from the reporting party had stated they had witnessed two subjects pull up in a pickup truck and start looking into the windows of a residence in the area. Police arrived and made contact with two individuals matching the suspect descriptions. As police worked to identify these two males, it was evident they were not being honest about their identities. It was also determined the truck they had been observed driving had been earlier reported stolen.  Both males were asked to stand up so they could be handcuffed as police worked to determine their identities. One of the males stood up and ran from the location. A K9 Officer issued multiple commands to stop running, or the K9 would be sent after the male. The male disregarded these commands, and the K9 was sent. The male jumped on a nearby vehicle, causing some damage to it. The male jumped off the vehicle and was bit by the K9. He was eventually placed in handcuffs. This male was positively identified as 29-year-old Rogan Azure of Rapid City. A medical unit was called to evaluate Azure. Police located a key to the stolen pickup, along with a plastic baggie containing a white residue, on Azure’s person. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine. All-in-all, Azure was placed under arrest for Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement, 3rd Degree Vandalism, Obstruction, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. The other male would be identified as 24-year-old Joseph Granados of Rapid City. He was placed under arrest for Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement, and a Warrant.
