An American Fell Asleep With Headache, Woke Up With British Accent

Michelle Myers has gone to bed with extreme headaches in the past and woke up speaking with what sounds like foreign accents. Before she has woke up with Australian and Irish accents and then disappeared after about two weeks.

This time was a British accent but it has been lingering for two years.

Myers says she has been diagnosed with foreign accent syndrome (FAS). The disorder typically occurs after strokes or traumatic brain injuries – something to the degree that their native language sounds like it is tinged with a foreign accent.
