Pursuit

On January 30th at around 12:50 a.m., police observed a Ford Taurus make a stop sign violation at the intersection of 5th Street and Saint Cloud Street. Police initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled over momentarily, only to continue southbound on 5th Street. The pursuit stayed generally in the area between West Blvd. and 5th Street. The vehicle was northbound in the alleyway between 5th and 6th streets when the occupants bailed from the vehicle. The car was still in motion and collided with a storage shed in the alleyway behind the 1900 block of 5th Street. One of the occupants was located in the alleyway behind the 1900 block of 6th Street. He was ordered to the ground and identified as 20-year-old Christian Degeest of Box Elder. He was placed under arrest for two active warrants. While searching his person, police located a digital scale which tested positive for methamphetamine. He was placed under arrest for Obstruction, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and his two Warrants. Methamphetamine was also located during a pre-tow inventory of the suspect vehicle. Police continue to investigate the incident.
