Car Vs Pedestrian Crash

At around 7:50 p.m. on January 29th, police responded to the intersection of Mt. Rushmore Road and Main Street for a report of a car-vs-pedestrian crash that had just occurred. As police investigated the crash, the pedestrian was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital via ambulance for the treatment of minor injuries. Police determined the crash happened as the vehicle was westbound on Main Street, negotiating a left turn to go south on Mt. Rushmore Road. The vehicle struck a pedestrian who had the right of way in the intersection’s southern crosswalk. Police also determined the driver’s vision was obstructed by a cloud exhaled after using a ‘vape pen.’ The driver was cited for Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian.

If you choose to ‘vape’ and drive, it is highly encouraged you roll your windows down to avoid the obstruction of your vision while operating a motor vehicle.
