Jo’s picks for Grammy Winners

So, I will actually be awake the entire Grammy show this year. Yeah, last year I was waking up before the sun so I’m looking forward to watching it live this year. Several performances have been announced and few that stand out to me..

  1. Chris Stapleton & Emmylou Harris
  2. The Tribute to the Route 91 Tribute- Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne & Eric Church- I’m wondering if Eric will perform the song he wrote..”Why Not Me” of which there is one verse that I cannot forget  “When the morning sun hit the mountain, and the glorious still calmed the breeze, i asked the god of all knowing wisdom,,why you and why not me”

And I’m pretty sure tears will be shed as Brothers Osborne even said in an interview that they will be far more emotional than nervous for this performance. I will most likely share the performance Monday, let’s be honest.

Now for nominees..who do I think will win.

Best Country Solo Performance

Strong category with Alison Krause, Sam Hunt, my girls Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert,  but I think Chris Stapleton will take the Grammy for “Either Way.” Would I love for Maren to have a repeat, of course, but still going with Chris.

Best Country Duo/Group Performance

Two of my favorite groups are against one another in this category- Midland & Brothers Osborne. But then the other nominees are incredible too- Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, I mean can’t they all just win?!? No, there has to be one, and a choose….Brothers Osborne for the W!

Best Country Song

Another category where I have two favorites, “Broken Halos” and “Drinkin’ Problem.” I wish they could give two winners but they so my final decision goes to “Better Man.” Taylor will take the Grammy and Little Big Town will celebrate.

Best Country Album

Easy peasy, Chris Stapleton and From A Room: Volume 1 is the winner. Sorry Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town and Thomas Rhett. Chris has got this one in the bag.

So, do you agree with my choices?

It’s going to be a great night of music across all genres celebrating talented individuals and remembering all those who are no longer with us. Look forward to reviewing all the highlights Monday.
