Gunshot Wound

On October 5th around 11:15 p.m., police were dispatched to 120 Surfwood Drive for a report of a male who had been shot in the leg. On arrival, police were confronted by a male, identified as 28-year-old Steven Guevara of Box Elder. Guevara began yelling at police and took a fighting stance against responding officers. He was taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs. Guevara refused to cooperate with police, and we was placed under arrest for Obstruction and Disorderly Conduct. A medical unit was also dispatched to the scene and, on arrival, began attending to the injured party. The injured party was ultimately transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police made contact with several witnesses and determined the shooting happened after the injured party approached a group of unknown subjects engaged in an argument. One of the unknown subjects pointed a gun at the injured party and shot him in the leg. The injured party informed police he was not interested in pressing charges, however, police continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
