Disturbance

On September 26th at around 11:50 a.m., police were called to 1304 Mt. Rushmore Road for a group of individuals who were panhandling in the area and causing a disturbance. Police arrived to the area and observed a male matching the suspect’s description walking north along Mt. Rushmore Road. When the suspect spotted officers in the area, he began running west toward Fairview Street. Police observed the suspect hiding in some bushes before the suspect took off running again. As police worked to apprehend the suspect, dispatch received several calls about an unknown male attempting to make entry into several different residences along the 800 block of Fairview Street. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Brandan Monfils of Rapid City, was located hiding in some bushes in the backyard of a residence in the 900 block of Fairview Street. A search of his person turned up syringes and plastic baggies containing a white substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Monfils was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and several Warrants. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
