Guns, drugs, stolen vehicle recovered after pursuit

Two people are in custody on multiple charges following a pursuit with a stolen vehicle.

On August 15th at around 12:55 a.m., a deputy of the PCSO recognized a stolen vehicle while on patrol in the 4100 Block of Sweetbriar Court. As the deputy began to investigate the stolen vehicle, a man sitting in the driver’s seat sat up, started the pickup, and drove off. Deputies followed as the pursuit headed eastbound along Highway 44. The vehicle turned to go off road in the area of Highway 44’s intersection with Hammerquist Road. Once off road, the vehicle drove off an embankment and crashed into a ravine. Two occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.

A RCPD K9 unit arrived on scene and began tracking the suspects. The police K9 located the driver approximately 40 yards from the vehicle. He was ordered to stay still so he could be placed in handcuffs. He did not comply and the K9 was deployed and bit the suspect. The man, later identified as 47-year-old Douglas Kindle of Box Elder, was handcuffed. Law enforcement yelled out to the second occupant of the vehicle, ordering them to show themselves. The female occupant (identified as 38-year-old Tina Conroy of Rapid City) indicated her location, and she was taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle turned up two rifles, syringes, and a digital scale, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Both Kindle and Conroy were placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Warrants. Kindle was arrested for the additional offenses of Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement, Possession of a Firearm with a Prior Felony Drug Conviction, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Driving Under Suspension, Aggravated Eluding, and Warrants.
