Traffic Crash

At around 2:10 a.m. on August 9th, police were dispatched to the area of Jackson Boulevard and W. Fulton Street for a report of a traffic crash. On arrival, police located a limousine with damage to the passenger side in the intersection. Police made contact with the driver who advised he was northbound on Jackson Boulevard, when a passenger vehicle westbound on W. Fulton Street ran a red light and struck the passenger side of the limo. The passenger vehicle then collided with a light pole on the east side of Jackson Boulevard before fleeing the scene. The collision with the light pole ripped the front bumper off of the passenger vehicle, leaving behind its license plate. A medical unit was called to attend to the limo driver, and he was ultimately transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger vehicle was located driving in the 700 block of Mountain View Road. A traffic stop was conducted and police made contact with the driver, identified as 34-year-old Robert Spragg of Rapid City. Police noted the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Spragg’s person. Following a DUI investigation, Spragg was placed under arrest for DUI, Hit and Run, Red Light Violation, and No Proof of Insurance.
