Recovered Stolen Vehicle

On January 4th around 2:30 a.m., police observed a Ford Taurus pull into the parking lot at 1200 N. Lacrosse Street and begin to park. This vehicle matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen on January 1st. The occupants were ordered to remain inside the vehicle as other officers arrived to assist. In the meantime, Dispatch confirmed the vehicle was stolen. Officers then made contact with the driver, identified as 23-year-old Justice Brouse of Rapid City. The passenger is identified as 24-year-old Carissa Martinez of Rapid City. Officers determined that Martinez had an active warrant, and she was placed under arrest. Police observed a syringe in plain view within the vehicle. The syringe tested positive for methamphetamine. A number of jeweler’s baggies were also recovered from the vehicle. All-in-all, Brouse and Martinez were each arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unauthorized Ingestion of a Controlled Substance. Martinez was additionally arrested for her Warrant and on a Parole Hold.
