Viola Davis to Receive 2017's First Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

ABC/Bob D’Amico(LOS ANGELES) — Viola Davis will be one of the first to make Hollywood history in 2017.

Hollywood Walk of Fame producer and VP of Media Relations, Ana Martinez tweeted,“First star of the new year will be for actress Viola Davis who will be honored on January 5.”

Davis, who is known for her starring role in ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder, has a notable list of accolades that include two Tony Awards for her characters in Broadway’s Fences and King Hedley II, an Emmy Award for HTGAWM and a collection of other trophies. She is also nominated for multiple awards, including a Golden Globe, for her role in the screen adaptation of Fences.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Leron Gubler and Meryl Streep will serve as guest speakers for Davis’ Walk of Fame inauguration. The ceremony will take place January 5, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. PT at 7013 Hollywood Boulevard and will also be live-streamed on walkoffame.com
