Riz Ahmed: It Didn't Sink In I Was in “Rogue One” Until I Saw It

Lucasfilm – 2016(NEW YORK) — Last week, actor Riz Ahmed had a low-key birthday. He only went to Skywalker Ranch, the Marin County, California headquarters of all things Star Wars, and watched himself in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

It was the first time he realized he was in the movie — sort of, he told Kelly Ripa and her Live With Kelly guest co-host Ilana Glazer, of Broad City fame.

“When you’re doing the shoot itself, it feels kind of surreal, doesn’t quite sink in. But it’s when you see those titles come up, and it says Star Wars,” Ahmed recalled, losing his train of thought in excitement.

Ahmed plays gruff pilot Bohdi Rook in the film.

“Actually, at the end of the movie, it was almost kind of awkward. Kathy Kennedy, head of Lucasfilm, and the director Gareth Edwards, were looking to all us actors, and we like, ‘So What did you think?!’ We were just silent. We were just like in stunned silence. ‘Cause like, yeah: it’s kind of surreal.”

Rogue One, which also stars Felicity Jones, Alan Tudyk, and Forest Whitaker, opens December 16, from Lucasfilm, which, like ABC News, is owned by Disney.
