Traffic Stop

On November 27th around 8:25 p.m., police observed a Kia Optima travelling in the area of Anamosa Street and Atlas Street with a headlight out. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle and it came to a stop in a nearby parking lot. As the vehicle came to a stop, the officer observed the female driver of the vehicle jump from the driver’s seat into the backseat of the car. As the officer approached the vehicle, he saw that the driver was pretending to be asleep in the back of the vehicle. The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle, and she was identified as 29-year-old Robin Whiteplume of Rapid City. Police noted the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. After further investigation, Whiteplume was placed under arrest for DUI (3rd) and Driving Under Revocation. She was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
