Angela Bassett Joining Marvel's “Black Panther”

Rick Rowell(LOS ANGELES) — Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Marvel’s Black Panther.

Marvel announced today that the American Horror Story actress will play Ramonda, the mother of Chadwick Boseman’s character, T’Challa, also known as Black Panther. The Ryan Coogler-directed film will mark Bassett’s return to a comic book project after appearing alongside Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern.

T’Challa was introduced to audiences last May in Captain America: Civil War as the prince of the African nation Wakanda, who must take over the throne after his father’s murder. Boseman is set to reprise his role as T’Challa in the standalone film which includes an all-star cast of Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o and The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira. 

Black Panther is set to hit theaters on February 16, 2018.
