“Duck Dynasty” to End After Current Season

A&E – 2016(LOS ANGELES) — Duck Dynasty‘s reign is coming to an end.

A&E and the cast both agreed that the reality show — which revolves around the Robertson family’s lucrative duck call business — will wrap up after its current 11th season, according to Variety.

Aware that the series would be coming to an end, The Robertsons reportedly decided to break the news at the beginning of Wednesday’s season premiere, so that fans could enjoy the final episodes and theDuck Dynasty holiday specials.

The show, which debuted in 2012, quickly became one of the most watched nonfiction series in cable TV history. It’s still A&E’s top-rated show, based on total viewers.

The show even managed to dodge cancellation in 2013 when cast member Phil Robertson made anti-gay remarks and inflammatory statements about African-Americans in a highly publicized GQ magazine interview. The controversy did, however result in his suspension from the show.

Season 11 of Duck Dynasty will run through January 18, before going on hiatus until March 1, when A&E will air the final seven episodes. The series finale is set for April 12, 2017.
