Traffic Stop

On November 14th at around 9:45 p.m., police responded to the area of Highway 79 and Catron Boulevard after an off-duty police officer observed a vehicle that was driving with no rear-passenger-side tire and no bumper. The vehicle was throwing up sparks as it drove on the bare rim of the wheel. The responding officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Cambell Street and Catron Blvd. Police made contact with the driver, identified as 36-year-old Leonard Fisherman of Pine Ridge, and noted the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Fisherman. Police also determined that Fisherman had earlier left the roadway into a ditch and struck a fence, causing both the tire and the bumper to come off the vehicle. After the subsequent DUI investigation, Fisherman was arrested or DUI, Driving Under Suspension, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
