TMZ first reported DCFS decided Wednesday to close the investigation into an alleged argument between Pitt and son Maddox that took place on a private jet back in September and allegedly became physical.

The DCFS declined to comment on the report, telling ABC News in a statement it’s “prohibited by state law from breaching confidentiality.”  However, a source tells ABC News that Pitt has in fact been cleared of the allegations of child abuse, and that the investigation was concluded over the past few days.

There’s no comment from Pitt’s reps on the report.  However, a statement to ABC News from a rep for Angelina Jolie Pitt declares,”The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation. As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children. Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal.”

Jolie, 41, filed for divorce in September, citing irreconcilable differences, adding that it was for the health of the family. She sought sole physical custody but Pitt, 52, is requesting joint custody.

Pitt, who starred in the World War II films Inglourious Basterds and 2014’s Fury, will return for a third tour of duty in Allied, opening nationwide November 23.
