“Showstoppers Night” Takes Over “Dancing with the Stars”

ABC/Ida Mae Astute(LOS ANGELES) — It’s “Showstoppers Night” on Monday’s Dancing with the Stars, a show that’ll see the six remaining couples performing twice: a dance routine to Broadway show tunes, followed by a “Team-Up Challenge.”

First, each couple will dance a style they’ve not yet danced, to a song from a hit Broadway musical. The teams traveled the country to see famous shows in person to get inspiration for their dances.

For the “Team-Up Challenge,” each team will dance together to one song, and for a portion of the dance, the two celebrities will dance together without the assistance of their professional partners. Each team will perform either a paso doblé, contemporary or jazz routine.

The judges’ scores for the “Team-Up Challenge” dances and the “Showstoppers” routines will be added together for the couples’ final scores.

Sitting in for Len Goodman at the judges’ table on Monday will be singer and Broadway star Idina Menzel, who’ll also perform her new single, “Queen of Swords.”

One of the couples will be sent home on Monday night.

Here are the couples’ dances:

* Marilu Henner and Derek Hough: “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” (Samba)

* Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy: “Cell Block Tango” (Argentine Tango)

* James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess: “A Brand New Day” (Jazz)

* Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold: “Memory” (Waltz)

* Terra Jole and Sasha Farber: “If My Friends Could See Me Now” (Charleston)

* Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko: “She Used to Be Mine” (Waltz)

* Team-Up #2: Jana & Gleb/Laurie & Val: “Bird Set Free” by Sia (Contemporary)

* Team-Up #3: Marilu & Derek/Terra and Sasha: “Big Noise from Winnetka” by Bette Midler (Jazz)
