Tilda Swinton Talks “Really, Really Fun” Time Filming “Doctor Strange”

Marvel – 2016(LOS ANGELES) — Tilda Swinton helps head up a heavyweight cast in Doctor Strange, the newest Marvel film, opening this Friday.  The actress — who’s played roles as diverse as her Oscar-winning turn as a corrupt lawyer in Michael Clayton, to a fallen angel in Constantine — says she jumped at the chance to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“For myself it’s always been a dream. I never thought that they would be able to find a corner for me in the Marvel universe. But they have,” she says. “If Marvel wanted to make a film of the telephone directory, I would be in. And you know what? I’m going to say never say never. ‘Cause who knows, it might figure.”

Swinton also had fun kicking butt as the Ancient One, the formidable sorceress who teaches Benedict Cumberbatch’s arrogant Dr. Stephen Strange the mysteries of magic and multiple universes.

“I mean, there’s nothing not fun about this,” she says.  “Yeah, it’s great. I mean, the combination of being that relaxed and at the same time able to throw those moves and work with all that magic was really, really fun.”

Directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Benjamin Bratt, and Mads Mikkelsen.

Doctor Strange opens this Friday, November 4.  Marvel’s owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
