Getty Images/Mark Sagliocco(LOS ANGELES) — Two action stars of a certain age, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, are joining the cast of a fantasy adventure sequel called Viy-2.
According to Variety, the movie is a sequel of a 2014 Russian box office hit; the original was based on a Russian horror novella.
The film, shot in China, has X-Men: First Class vet Jason Flemyng reprising his role as Jonathan Green, an 18th century British explorer. He’s ordered by Russian monarch Peter the Great to create a map of the Russian Far East. That sends him on “incredible adventures,” where he will “confront deadly martial-arts masters and the Dragon King.”
Their roles haven’t yet been revealed, but we can assume that Chan will play a martial-arts master. It’s possible that Arnold would play the Russian leader. Another ’80s movie notable, Rutger Hauer, also appears in the film.
