“Boo! A Madea Halloween” Burns “Inferno” at the Box Office

A Madea Halloween topped the box office for the second straight week, earning an estimated $16.67 million, according to Box Office Mojo

Inferno, the third film in the Robert Langdon series based on Dan Brown’s novels, debuted in second with an estimated $15 million — far off the $46.2 million opening for 2009’s Angels & Demons and a far cry from The Da Vinci Code‘s $77 million opening ten years ago. Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back fell to third position in its second weekend, delivering an estimated $9.55 million. The Accountant, starring Ben Affleck, came in fourth with an estimated $8.47 million.

Rounding out the top five is the only wide-release horror film in theaters, Ouija: Origin of Evil, which dipped 50 percent in its second weekend, earning an estimated $7 million.
