Accident

On October 28th around 11:15 a.m., police were dispatched to the construction zone in the area of Mt. Rushmore Road and Clark Street for a crash in which a van struck a cement truck. Police spoke to witnesses who stated they watched the van strike the cement truck. The van then backed up and the driver got out of the vehicle. A construction worker spoke with the driver of the van. The driver of the van indicated he did not want police called about the incident before he got back into the vehicle and attempted to drive away. Several construction workers attempted to reach into the van to turn off the vehicle and prevent the driver from leaving the scene. One worker was successful and threw the keys out the window. The driver of the van then exited the vehicle and attempted to run from the scene. Construction workers gave chase and the driver picked up a rock and began swinging it at the workers. He was tackled by members of the construction crew and held on the ground until law enforcement arrived. After further DUI investigation, the driver (44-year-old Tim Ange of Rapid City) was placed under arrest for DUI (3rd offence), Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Reckless Driving, and three counts of Simple Assault.
