Norman Reedus Says “No One Is Safe” on “The Walking Dead”

Gene Page/AMC(NEW YORK) — Norman Reedus’ character Daryl Dixon in the hit AMC series The Walking Dead is arguably one of the most buzzed about heroes on TV.

Reedus is greeted like a rock star, attracting hours-long autograph lines at fan conventions — and his very fate on the show is fiercely protected by fans. “If Daryl dies, we riot,” was a tweet that spawned tons of fan-made merch.

“No one is safe on the show,” Reedus warned Peter Travers, host of ABC’s Popcorn With Peter Travers.

The show is set to return for a new season this Sunday with at least one high-profile hero death at the hands of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s bat-wielding baddie Negan — but fans don’t know who it will be.

Did he, however, tip off fans that Daryl will survive? Reedus mentioned to Travers that season seven is one of those seasons that’s just “pure suffering,” and noted that it’s, “an emotionally draining show sometimes.”

Does this mean his character will make it? Only time will tell. He didn’t reveal anything specifically.

The actor says secrecy has become par for the course. “We used to get a bunch of scripts in advance and then the show became more popular,” he said. “And now we know right at the last minute…But it’s actually kind of helped us…because it’s a lot like-life. You always feel like you have more time with people. And you never know when it’s gonna come. And when it does come it’s such a shocker.”

See which hero dies — ahem — right of the bat, when The Walking Dead returns Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
