You're Welcome: First Look at “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”

Marvel – © 2016(LOS ANGELES) — Before fans had a chance to recover from writer-director James Gunn revealing the poster to hisGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on social media, the first ever teaser to the anticipated sequel dropped.

This time around, the team of Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, a teeth-picking Rocket Racoon, and Dave Bautista’s hulking Drax — as well as a still-growing Baby Groot peeking out from Quill’s boot – are joined by returning players Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan asYondu and Nebula, respectively.

The teaser – which like the first one is set to Blue Swede’s Hooked on a Feeling — reveals small snippets of action and even a sense of foreboding, combined with the movie’s trademark irreverent humor.  For example, a sign reading, “Spaceuits for emergency” has been tagged with a magic marker scrawl “OR FOR FUN.”

“This summer,” a title card reads, “The galaxy won’t save itself.”

“There are two types of beings in the universe,” Drax advises. “I get it,” Quill says, “I’m a dancer, Gamora is not.”

“You just need to find somebody who is pathetic, like you,” the metaphor-challenged alien advises, before grabbing Quill in an unwanted bro hug.

Rocket and Baby Groot also make an appearance, with the former blowing a hole in something — or someone — and smirking through it, and the baby version of the tree who sacrificed himself at the end of the first film cooing cutely.

Guardians of the Galaxy, which also stars Kurt Russell as Quill’s dad Ego, The Living Planet, opens May 5, 2017.
