“Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events” Gets Netflix Release Date

2016 – Netflix(NEW YORK) — With a moody, short video befitting the darkly comic subject matter, Netflix announced its take on the popular book series Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will debut Friday, January 13.

The video features Seinfeld alum Patrick Warburton warning viewers that checking out the show could result in them falling victim to the same condition that reportedly hospitalized the absent crew: “melancholy, ennui, and acute wistfulness.”

The series — written by author Daniel Handler under the pen name Lemony Snicket — centers on a trio of orphaned siblings and their evil uncle, Count Olaf — played in this permutation by Neil Patrick Harris — who schemes to steal their inheritance.

Jim Carrey played Olaf in a 2004 big-screen adaptation that was critically well-received, but failed to impress at the box office.
