Denzel Washington Says “Great” Chris Pratt Reminds Him of Tom Hanks

GMA After Hours/Matt Wolfe(NEW YORK) — Denzel Washington has high praise for his Magnificent Seven co-star Chris Pratt — Hanks-level praise, in fact.

In a chat with ABC News Radio’s Good Morning America After Hours host Lynda Lopez, the two-time Oscar winning actor opened up about the Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star, expressing the similarities with his Philadelphia co-star Tom Hanks.

“Chris is great, Denzel gushed. “I can see why he’s so popular. There’s another actor that I worked with, whatever, 20 years ago, by the name of Hanks who had that same quality about them, that you just really like them — aside from their obvious talent, they’re good people and it comes across onscreen.”

GMA After Hours played Denzel’s comments for Pratt, who was blown away. “Wow,” the actor said obviously moved. “That is so cool,” said Pratt, who joked, “Man…Now I feel like I have to repay a compliment with a compliment.”

“Denzel’s a legend,” Pratt said plainly, “I learned a lot just watching him…”

“He’s very serious about his work,” Pratt noted, “and if you’re smart you just keep your eyes open and watch and learn — he may be the greatest living actor and one of the greatest actors of all time.”

The Magnificent Seven, which sees Washington leading a ragtag group of allies against a bloodthirsty businessman, also stars Vincent D’Onofrio and Ethan Hawke. The movie opens Friday.
