Emmy-winner Kate McKinnon; ABC(LOS ANGELES) — The red carpet at the 2016 Emmys was filled with a variety of shapes and colors. Hair was up and down, cut-outs were a thing, white was popular, and jewelry was minimal. Here are some of the highlights:
Quantico star Priyanka Chopra wore a bright red Jason Wu with a double left shoulder strap; her hair was pulled back.
Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi, Emilia Clarke, wore her hair in its natural brown color, pulled back. She sported a simple Atelier Versace blush gown, and no jewelry except for earrings.
Her co-star, Sophie Turner, revealed to E! News on the red carpet that she and another cast member, Maisie Williams, have matching tattoos that read “07.08.09.”
“That’s the date that we both heard that we got Game of Thrones on…I got it the other day. [It’s] still a bit crusty,” Turner said. The tat is on her forearm.
Heidi Klum wore her hair down, and sported a white sequinned Michael Kors gown with a full right sleeve, a hip cutout, a spaghetti strap on the left shoulder, and a high leg slit.
Top Chef star Padma Lakshmi covered up in long-sleeved round neck Naeem Khab gown in sparkly silver.
Regina King sported a bright red strapless Elizabeth Kennedy gown with a bustle. She wore her hair down and a very simple necklace.
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner wore her hair blonde and shoulder length hair, as compared to the long red hair she wears as Sansa Stark. Her Valentino gown was black semi-sheer lace.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore a black polka dot semi-sheer Carolina Herrera gown with leather straps across the bodice.
Taraji P. Henson and Minnie Driver both wore shocking yellow gowns — Taraji’s was Vera Wang, and Minnie’s was Versace.
Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany wore an Alexander Wang red column with cutouts at the waist and the chest.
Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt wore her long flowing blonde hair down, and a simple Stella McCartney strapless black gown.
Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland’s Monique Lhuillier outfit was unusual: she wore black cropped pants topped with a floor length strapless white embroidered top that flared out at the hips like a hoop skirt and hit the floor.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Ellie Kemper wore a yellow patterned strapless Jennie Packer gown.
Modern Family’s Ariel Winter and Kylie Jenner wore the same gown! Horrors! It was a Yousef Al-Jasmi silver gown with sheer cutouts.
Singer Tori Kelly wore an elegant strapless black velvet Paule Ka. With her blonde hair down, she screamed “old-school glamour.”
Felicity Huffman wore a white lacy patterned Tony Ward gown.
America Ferrera sported a navy sequinned Jenny Packham gown with spaghetti straps.
Niecy Nash showed off her curvy figure in a white strapless Christian Siriano with a mermaid bottom.
Tracee Ellis Ross wore a while Ralph Lauren one-shouldered gown with a cutout at the waist.
Kristen Bell wore a flowing floral-patterned Zuhair Murad gown with a wide skirt and a barely-there top.
Sarah Paulson was in a green floral heavily sequined Prada gown with a neckline that plunged to her waist.
Viola Davis wore a strapless hot pink Marchesa gown with a lace pattern around the neckline.
Amy Poehler wore an olive-colored sequinned Pamella Roland with a cape-styled top. Her hair was reddish-brown and down.
