“Bridget Jones's Baby” Disappoints at the Box Office

Universal(NEW YORK) — Bridget Jones’s Baby didn’t deliver at the box office over the weekend.

The third film in the series, again starring Renee Zellweger as the titular character, earned an estimated total of just 8.2 million dollars to open in third place.

It was, however, the top movie overseas, drawing 29.9 million.

Blair Witch, a follow-up to the 1999 horror hit The Blair Witch Project, debuted in second place, collecting 9.7 million dollars domestically.

Oliver Stone’s latest flick, Snowden, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as whistle-blower Edward Snowden, finished in fourth place, with an eight-million-dollar debut.

For the second weekend in a row, the Clint Eastwood-directed drama Sully, with Tom Hanks as “Miracle on the Hudson” pilot Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, was the number-one movie, raising 22 million bucks.

Here are the top 10 movies from Friday through Sunday, with estimated ticket sales, according to comScore:

1. Sully, $22 million.
2. Blair Witch, $9.7 million.
3. Bridget Jones’s Baby, $8.2 million.
4. Snowden, $8 million.
5. Don’t Breathe, $5.6 million.
6. When the Bough Breaks, $5.5 million.
7. Suicide Squad, $4.7 million.
