Joe Manganiello of True Blood and Magic Mike fame was confirmed to play the lethal villain by DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

The character, a deadly mercenary and assassin whose real name is Slade Wilson, has tangled with the Caped Crusader several times over the years, even kicking his Bat-butt in a story arc in Deathstroke issues #8 and #9.

Deathstroke and his distinctive orange and black armored uniform is also a frequent foil in video games.

It’s not clear if Deathstroke and Manganiello will be in either the solo Batman film or in Justice League, which is set to come out next year.

Manganiello only had one thing to say about the casting, posting on Facebook, “It’s on…”

He also changed his Twitter background photo to Deathstroke.

Affleck was introduced as the new Batman in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He’s reprising the role in Justice League and in the stand-alone Batman movie, the latter of which he’s also directing.
