LAURIE HERNANDEZ, VAL CHMERKOVSKIY, VANILLA ICE, WITNEY CARSON, ARTEM CHIGVINTSEV, MAUREEN MCCORMICK, DEREK HOUGH, SASHA FARBER, TERRA JOLE, MARILU HENNER, GOVERNOR RICK PERRY, EMMA SLATER, TOM BERGERON, CHERYL BURKE, RYAN LOCHTE, JAMES HINCHCLIFFE, MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY, AMBER ROSE, ALLISON HOLKER, KENNETH “BABYFACE” EDMONDS, JANA KRAMER, GLEB SAVCHENKO, JENNA JOHNSON, JAKE T. AUSTIN, LINDSAY ARNOLD, CALVIN JOHNSON – ABC – 2016(NEW YORK) — The cast of the new Dancing with the Stars season was introduced to the press in New York City on Wednesday.

One of the stars who will compete in the ABC ballroom this fall is disgraced Olympic gold-medal-winning swimmer Ryan Lochte, who has admitted that he “overexaggerated” when he claimed he and three other U.S. swimmers were held up at gunpoint during the Rio Olympics.

Lochte is hoping to show a different side of himself to America by participating in Dancing with the Stars.

“I’ll be cloaked. So that would definitely be a different side. Yeah,” he laughed during an interview with ABC Radio. “And taking me out of my normal environment, you know, swimming, and putting me in a dance floor. So it should be interesting to watch.”

Aside from that, Lochte said he wants to challenge himself.

“And dancing is definitely one of those things that I cannot do, but I wanted to push my body,” he added.

Another U.S. Olympian, gold-medal-winning gymnast Laurie Hernandez, will compete on the show, too. Her approach to dancing will be at least somewhat similar to her approach to gymnastics.

“It’s hard, obviously, but I’m out there just enjoying myself like I did with gymnastics, and I’m just ready to go out there and lay my personality on the floor,” she said. “And to be in a partnership while we’re dancing is really cool, too.”

The cast of season 23 of Dancing with the Stars, premiering this Monday night, also includes Vanilla Ice,Amber Rose, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Marilu Henner, and The Brady Bunch star Maureen McCormick.
